intoGEMOLOGY (intogemology.com) is an independent gemology education platform based in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka. We offer online and hybrid courses in gemology and the gem trade, taught by a GIA Graduate Gemologist with 10+ years of industry experience.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the site and communicate with you. Here is everything we collect:

We do not collect: location data, device fingerprints, browsing history, or any data beyond what is listed above.

3. Cookies

intoGEMOLOGY does not use tracking cookies. Cloudflare Analytics — our analytics tool — is privacy-first and cookieless. It collects anonymous, aggregated data only. No personal information is tied to any analytics event.

If PayHere is used as a payment processor in the future, they may set cookies on their platform when you click through to complete a payment. Their privacy policy governs that experience.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data only for the purpose it was given:

• Newsletter email — to send you the Daily Gem newsletter and course updates. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email we send.
• Gem Circle waitlist email — to notify you when the community launches. You will not receive unrelated marketing.
• Contact form data — to respond to your enquiry. Messages are stored in our database and delivered to our inbox.
• Analytics data — to understand which pages are useful and where traffic comes from. This data is anonymous and never tied to individuals.

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data for profiling or automated decision-making.

5. Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate this site:

• Cloudflare Pages — hosts this website. Cloudflare may process request metadata (IP address, browser type) as part of serving the site. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Database Infrastructure — We manage our own secure database. Stores newsletter subscribers, community waitlist signups, and contact form submissions. See our database provider's Privacy Policy.
• Resend — handles transactional emails (welcome emails, contact notifications, unsubscribe confirmations). Your email is passed to Resend only to deliver the relevant email. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
• PayHere — will be used for course payments when available. We will never receive or store your card details. See PayHere's Privacy Policy.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
• Request full deletion of your data at any time
• Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time (link in every email)
• Ask us to correct any inaccurate information

7. Data Retention

We keep your data only as long as necessary:

• Newsletter subscribers — unsubscribing removes you from all future emails immediately. Your email address remains in our system for record-keeping. To request full deletion of your record, email [email protected] and we will action it within 7 days.
• Gem Circle waitlist — retained until the community launches and you are notified. To be removed before launch, email [email protected].
• Contact form messages — stored in our database until manually deleted by our team.
• Analytics data — aggregated and anonymous, retained by Cloudflare per their policy.

8. Children's Privacy

intoGEMOLOGY courses are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a minor has submitted personal data to us, please contact us and we will delete it immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify newsletter subscribers. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
